# Rollback

Restores an entity to a previous version state. This creates a new version with the restored state rather than deleting versions.

## Request

```http
```

var targetVersion = 3;

var response = await httpClient.PostAsync(
    $"/umbraco/ai/management/api/v1/versions/{entityType}/{entityId}/{targetVersion}/rollback",
    null);

if (response.IsSuccessStatusCode)
{
    Console.WriteLine($"Entity rolled back to version {targetVersion}");
}
```
{% endcode %}
## Notes
* Rollback creates a new version (preserving audit trail)
* The entity's `version` property increments after rollback
* Rollback may fail if the restored state references deleted entities (e.g., a deleted connection)
* Connection rollbacks do not restore sensitive data (API keys) - these must be re-entered
{% hint style="warning" %}
Rolling back a connection does not restore API keys or other sensitive credentials. You will need to update these after rollback.
{% endhint %}
## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.
Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:
```
GET https://docs.umbraco.com/ai-in-umbraco/17.latest/management-api/versions/rollback.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```
`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.
Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
